Xynergy XS - STM32 Cortex-M4, Spartan-6 & 128MB DDR3 on 20cm² |
Our engineers have come up with a compact, flexible and powerful processor module based on ST Microelectronics STM32 Cortex-M4 microcontroller (168MHz, 1MBytes Flash, 192kBytes RAM) an a Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA (1430 Slices, 16 DSP48A1 Slices). The module comes in a 200-pin SO-DIMM (DDR2 style, 1,8V coded) and is closely related to Xynergy platform which we have recently developed for Silica, one of the most renowned European distributors. Because our version of the hardware is so small, we named it "Xynergy XS". Besides the STM32 (STM32F417) in a 176-ball CSP and the FPGA (XC6XLS9) in a 324-ball BGA, the module boasts one 64M x 16 DDR3 RAM attached to one of the FPGA's memory ports, and 64MBits of serial flash for configuration and data. The on-board PHY complements the numerous standard and general purpose interfaces with more than 130 I/O lines, up to 70 of which can be used as differential LVDS lines (i.e. 35 signal pairs connected to the FPGA). The LVDS interface may be used for FMC standard mezzanine modules. The on-board power supply requires a single 3.3Volt source while banks 0 and 2 of the FPGA may be operated on a lesser I/O voltage such as 2.5V supplied separately. More details on this little piece of high performance engineering are available from the preliminary datasheet and by request.

Xynergy - Cortex-M3 and Spartan 6 Platform |
The Xynergy-Board combines an ARM Cortex-M3 based STMicroelectronics STM32F217 controller with a Xilinx Spartan-6 low-cost FPGA (XC6SLX16) in one design. There are numerous development tools for either ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers or FPGA kits, but this is the first module in the market that merges both technologies on one board, although it is absolutely common to have a microcontroller next to an FPGA, performing tasks that cannot be integrated in the FPGA in a cost-effective way. High costs for the adequate IP cores and for the additionally needed resources in the FPGA very often require an implementation in favor of a two-chip solution. Particularly the use of standard communication interfaces like Ethernet, USB and CAN are in most cases cheaper and easier to implement on a microcontroller.
The Xynergy Board features
- ST Microelectronics STM32F217 ARM Cortex-M3 MCU clocked at up to 120MHz
- Xilinx XC6SLX16 Spartan-6 low cost FPGA (324-pin package XC6SLX16)
- ST Microelectronics ST802 10/100 Ethernet port with RJ45 Ethernet connector
- Micron MT41J64M16 1-Gbit DDR3 SDRAM accessed via the FSMC port and the FPGA
- Micron M25P128 SPI NOR-Flashoptional STMicroelectronics M24LR64 dual interface RFID EEPROM
- Standard 20-pin JTAG header for ARM debugging
- JTAG header for standard Xilinx Platform Cable USB II
- Two 64-pin expansion ports
- Micro-SD Card Slot
- USB on-the-go connector
and much more
Target Applications
- Evaluation of mixed microcontroller / FPGA designs
- General purpose industrial applications using Ethernet / USB / CAN / SPI / I²C
- General purpose pre-, post- and coprocessing with FPGA, i.e. digital filtering , advanced crypto, video etc.
- Implementation of industrial Ethernet IP in FPGA and/or microcontroller
- Motor Control with FPGA acceleration of closed loop algorithms
and many more

Blackfin-Modul with Spartan-3E FPGA and LAN |
BF537LANcore is based on a Blackfin BF537 DSP controller and a 100K Spartan-3E FPGA (250K or 500K as an option). Less than 2 sqr inches in size, this small computer is capable of running uClinux, has 32MBytes on-board SDRAM, 16 MBytes of serial flash, up to 33 general purpose I/O pins (including 11 LVDS pairs), a 100Mbps Ethernet port with PHY and lots of applications to be used in.
For instant operation, we also offer a "motherboard", carrying all I/O pins on 100mil headers. In addition, the motherboard is equipped with an SD-card socket, a High-Speed-USB-Port, a 2-channel audio interface (16bit, 48kHz), a serial interface (UART), and an RJ-45-Jack for ethernet connectivity.
If you wish to learn more about this amazing piece of German engineering, check the datasheet or contact us. We not only provide you with the hardware but also with engineering support to make your application real - quickly! |

Blackfin-Modul with 9 Cores and up to 5300 MIPS |
The BF561MULTIcore board is a miniature size system based on Analog Devices’ Blackfin family. A single BF537 with an Ethernet MAC capable of running uClinux controls four dual-core BF561’s yielding an accumulated performance of up to 5300 MIPS. With a size of only 1" x 3.75", the board is designed to fit standard carrier boards, such as PCI, PCIx or eurocards (160x100mm). The BF537 has 32 Mbytes private SDRAM to suit the requirements of an operating system (uClinux) while each BF561 has 8 Mbytes of private SDRAM . The board can boot via TFTP over the network and load application software individually to each of the BF561 cores. Alternatively, the board can be booted from an on-board serial flash which makes it independent of any host system.
The system is perfect for multi-channel speech processing or software-defined radio (SDR) applications. The module requires 2 Amps (max.) out of a single 3.3Volt power supply.
